This Privacy Policy explains how AI Language Tutor ("the App", "we", "our", or "us")
collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application. By installing or using
the App, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Summary. We do not sell your personal data. The App works largely on your device.
When you use AI-powered features, the text you type or speak is sent to our AI providers purely to
generate a response. We show ads and offer optional paid subscriptions, as described below.
1. About the App
AI Language Tutor helps you learn and practice languages. The App includes the following features:
- Home (Learning Hub) — dashboard with lessons, progress, streaks, and XP.
- AI Chat Assistant — converse with an AI tutor in your target language.
- Translator — translate text between supported languages.
- Vocabulary — learn, review, and save words and phrases.
- Grammar — lessons, explanations, and exercises for grammar topics.
- Role Play — practice dialogues in guided conversational roles.
- Scenario Practice — real-life situational dialogues (e.g., café, airport, interview).
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Profile preferences — display name, age range, target language, proficiency level, and daily goal you choose inside the App. This is stored locally on your device.
- Learning input — text you type, words you save, and (when you grant microphone permission) short voice input used by pronunciation and speech features.
- Support requests — if you email us, we receive your email address and the message you send.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- App usage & progress — lessons completed, streaks, XP, time spent, error/crash logs. Used to show your progress and improve the App.
- Device information — device model, operating system version, language/region, app version, and a non-permanent advertising identifier for ads and analytics.
- Approximate location — derived from IP address, only as used by advertising and crash-reporting SDKs. We do not collect precise GPS location.
2.3 What we do NOT collect
- We do not ask for your real name, phone number, contacts, photos, or files outside what you explicitly share with the App.
- We do not collect precise (GPS) location.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (see Section 9).
3. How We Use Information
- To provide the core learning features listed in Section 1.
- To generate AI responses in the Chat, Translator, Grammar, Role Play, and Scenario features.
- To remember your preferences, progress, streaks, and saved vocabulary.
- To send optional local reminder notifications if you enable them.
- To show ads and offer optional paid subscriptions (see Sections 5 and 6).
- To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve the App.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. AI Features and Third-Party AI Providers
The AI Chat Assistant, Translator, Grammar tutor, Role Play, and Scenario features rely on third-party
AI providers (such as OpenAI). When you use these features, the text (and, for voice
features, a short audio snippet) you submit is sent to the AI provider over an encrypted connection so
they can generate a response. We transmit only the content needed to fulfill your request; we do not
send your name, email, or profile data to the AI provider.
AI providers may temporarily process and retain inputs to operate and monitor their service in line
with their own privacy policies. Please avoid sharing sensitive personal information (such as full
name, home address, financial data, passwords, or medical data) in AI chat or translation inputs.
5. Advertising
The App shows advertisements (banner, native, interstitial, and rewarded ads) through
Google AdMob and, where applicable, associated mediation partners. Advertising SDKs
may access your advertising identifier, approximate location (via IP), device information, and limited
interaction data to deliver and measure ads.
- You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings
(Settings → Google → Ads on Android).

6. Paid Features & Subscriptions
The App offers optional paid features and subscriptions (for example, ad-free use, unlimited AI chat,
premium lessons, and advanced scenarios). Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing.
We do not receive or store your full credit-card number, bank details, or billing address — those are
handled by Google Play under
Google's Privacy Policy. We receive only a purchase
token / subscription status so we can unlock premium features on your account/device.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current
period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions any time in the Google Play Store under
Subscriptions.
7. Analytics & Crash Reporting
We use standard analytics and crash-reporting tools (such as Google Play services and Firebase) to
understand aggregate feature usage, stability, and performance. These tools receive device and usage
data as described in Section 2.2, but not your learning content.
8. Permissions We May Request
- Internet — required for AI features, translation, ads, and subscriptions.
- Microphone — only when you use voice input, pronunciation, or speaking practice features.
- Notifications (Android 13+) — only if you enable practice reminders.
- Billing — to process Google Play subscriptions.
You can revoke any permission at any time from your device's system settings.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age
required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you
believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Data Retention
- On-device data (profile, progress, saved vocabulary, settings) remains on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App or clear app data.
- AI request content is retained by the AI provider only as long as needed to operate and monitor their service, per their policy.
- Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
11. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- AI providers (e.g., OpenAI) — to generate AI responses to your inputs.
- Google Play Billing — to process subscriptions and purchases.
- Google AdMob and analytics/crash-reporting tools — as described above.
- Authorities, when required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety.
12. Security
We use HTTPS/TLS for data in transit and rely on platform-level security (Android sandboxing, Google
Play Billing) for data at rest on your device and for purchases. No method of electronic transmission
or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & deletion — since most data lives on your device, you can clear it by clearing app data or uninstalling the App. You can also email us to request deletion of any data we hold.
- Opt out of personalized ads — reset/limit your advertising ID in device settings.
- Turn off reminders — disable notifications in the App or system settings.
- GDPR / UK GDPR — if you are in the EEA or UK, you have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.
- CCPA (California) — California residents may request to know what personal information we have, request deletion, and opt out of "sale/share". We do not sell personal information.
14. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including by our AI and cloud
providers. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated"
date above and, for material changes, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after an update
means you accept the revised policy.
